In The Ten Commandments (1956), Debra Paget plays Lilia, a gentle Hebrew slave who represents the suffering Moses longs to end. Yvonne De Carlo portrays Sephora, Moses’s loyal Midianite wife. Charlton Heston stars as Moses, torn between his royal Egyptian life and Hebrew roots. Esther Brown appears briefly as Princess Tharbis of Ethiopia. Lavish Egyptian ceremonial dance scenes, seen in HD screencaps, contrast Pharaoh’s opulence with the plight of the enslaved Hebrews.
